“Deck the halls with boughs of holly- fa la la la-la la la la”
When you hear the echoes of this song, you know it’s time for Christmas! This year however, let’s take a hint from this age old carol, like the halls that were adorned with holly- a species evergreen and deciduous plants and let us also deck our homes with greens and blooms of this season.
We at Springfinity are going to help you celebrate your ‘green’ Christmas with our line of seasonal plants and the special mini christmas trees specially blossoming at our Garden of Forever for this very merry time of year.
Inspired by a ‘green’ Christmas, we have put together some great eco-friendly DIY decorative ideas for you as well. Take a look!
- Dried nut shell ornaments: A great way to avoid all the plastic clutter from your Christmas tree would be by using dried nut shells, probably pistachio shells or walnut shells and paint them in gold and silver to hang them up as Christmas ornaments. If you do not have dried shells, you could probably take a walk around the nearest park to gather dried cones and nuts or take a walk along the beach to collect washed up sea shells, they also form a great alternative to deck your tree.
- Coconut shell candle stand: We all use coconut in our daily household for cooking. The two halves of the shell that you would usually throw away can now be used as a Christmas candle stand. Just turn each shell against the other and attach them with super glue, use the open side of the shell to place your candle, while the other side turns into the stand. Simple isn’t it? You can also paint them and decorate them to your liking.
- Jute gift wrapper: Part of the Christmas joy comes from the gifts we give and receive from one another. Why do you have to spend on buying gift wrappers made of paper when you have a better eco-friendly alternative- Jute! Cut out the gunny sack that you buy your rice and pulses in and use it to wrap all your gifts, add a bow to it and voila.
Hope these tips have been helpful for you to kick-start your ‘Green’ Christmas. Don’t forget to check out www.sprigfinity.com for the Christmas special plants & planters that will soon be up for sale.
